Anatomy and Physiology

This Core Subject course provides you with an understanding of the anatomical and physical systems and how they work together to create such an astonishing and highly intelligent human body.

It intends to help you to be the best practitioner you can be, and acts as background to your whole practice. You will be able to weave the knowledge you gain from this learning into your sessions, giving you extra clarity and effectiveness.

Topics you will cover include the structure, function, location and interaction of cells, tissues, glands, organs and systems.

You will also study the structure and function of the:

  • skeletal system
  • muscular system - along with the structure and function of muscles (including types of muscles, the definition of origin and insertion of muscles within the major muscle groups)
  • cardio vascular system
  • lymphatic system
  • nervous system
  • endocrine system
  • digestive system
  • respiratory system
  • urinary system
  • reproductive system
  • immune system
  • the skin, cells and tissue
  • glands and organs

Prior learning

If you already hold a certificate in Anatomy and Physiology that you would like to be considered for your registered practitioner status please contact your trainer to discuss. Equally, if you have studied Anatomy and Physiology within another discipline such as massage, acupuncture, or shiatsu qualifications, please get in touch with us about this and we can help you to meet the requirements.
